Chicken Lollipops with Orange Peanut Sauce

Prep Time: 16-20 mins I Cooking Time: 1 hr I Serving: 2-3



Ingredients :-

For chicken marinade :-

½ kg/500g / 1.1 lb. Chicken Lollies (washed and pat dry)

1 tsp Salt

½ tsp Black Pepper Powder

1 tsp Brown Sugar

1.5 tsp Soy Sauce

1 tsp Vinegar

1 Egg (well beaten)

1.5 tsp Hot Chilli Sauce (Sriracha)

1 Chicken Bouillon Cube

4-5 Garlic Cloves (minced)

3 tbsp Cornstarch


For coating :-

1 cup/130g approx. All Purpose Flour

½ tsp Black Pepper Powder

½ tsp Salt


For deep frying :-

Veg Oil (enough for deep frying)


For sauce :-

2 tbsp Peanuts/Groundnuts (without skin)

40 g Butter (salted)

2 tbsp Honey

½ cup/125ml Fresh Orange Juice(or canned)

½ tsp Red Chilli Flakes

½ tbsp Cornstarch slurry( 1 tsp Corn Starch + 1 tbsp water)


Method :-


For marinating :-


In a large bowl add chicken lollies + egg + salt + black pepper powder + brown sugar + soy sauce + vinegar + chilli sauce + chicken bouillon cube + minced garlic cloves. Mix well


Add cornstarch and mix again until well combined


Refrigerate, covered for about 1 hour


For coating:-


Place the all purpose flour on the board/plate. Add salt + black pepper powder. Mix well


Coat the marinated chicken lollies evenly (one at a time) and place them one by one onto a board/plate

Similarly coat all the remaining marinated lollies and set aside


For frying :-


In a large pan heat the vegetable oil to 375 degree F / 190 degree C. Once hot, place coated chicken lollies, a few at a time, into hot oil and deep-fry in batches for about 5-7 minutes on low-medium flame and slowly pour the hot oil over the lollies for even cooking. Do not overcrowd.


Lower down the flame and with the help of a tong, dish out and place on an absorbent paper


Similarly, fry the remaining coated chicken lollies


While the chicken lollies rests, heat the oil again to medium flame (425 degree). Re-fry the chicken lollies for another 5-7 minutes until golden and crisp. Keep stirring


Once done switch off the gas, drain the fried chicken lollies on an absorbent paper and set aside


For sauce :-


To the pan add slightly crushed peanuts and dry roast for 3-4 mins on low-medium flame


When colour changes to light brown dish out and set aside


Heat butter in the same pan and add honey. Mix well


Add fresh orange juice to the pan and mix well. Bring it to boil and let it simmer for 4-5 mins on low-medium flame


Next add chilli flakes + roasted peanuts + cornstarch slurry to the pan and mix well. Keep stirring on low-medium flame until sauce slightly thickens and switch off the gas


Place the lollies on a serving tray, pour the sauce over the crispy lollies and enjoyyyyy the taste of happiness:)
