Herbed Garlic Rice is one of the easiest rice dish to make. It is seasoned with herbs and tossed in butter. The best part of this dish is, it makes a great use of leftover plain rice. Garlic tossed in butter and addition of aromatic herbs to season the rice uplifts the flavour making it different from the usual dish of rice tossed with spices. Not too mention it is super healthy. The dish can be made with our without vegetables. Served this with grilled Chicken/ lamb chops/fish, Smoked Tofu and sautéed veggies.
2 tbsp./40 g. Butter (salted)
2 tsp./10 ml. Olive Oil/Vegetable Oil
7-8 Garlic Cloves (minced)
2 cups/500 g. Cooked Rice
Salt to taste
½ tsp. Black Pepper Powder
1 tsp. Red Chili Flakes
1 tsp. Oregano (dried)
5-6 Sprigs/2 tbsp. Fresh Coriander (finely chopped)
3 tbsp. Scallions/Green Onion (finely chopped)
Heat 2 tbsp. of butter + 2 tsp of olive oil in a non-stick pan. Once the butter starts melting add minced garlic to the pan and stir for 2-3 mins on low-medium flame
Next, lower down the flame and add cooked rice + salt + black pepper powder + red chili flakes + oregano + scallion/green onion to the pan. Fold in and mix well. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes on high flame and switch off the gas.
Time to Taste:) Enjoy with grilled fish, chicken, vegetable salad, fried eggs etc.
