Homemade Chicken Broth

Homemade Chicken Broth: Rich in chicken flavor, this traditional broth is cooked with herbs and add wonderful flavor which is perfect to use in soups & curries. Nothing soothes, nourishes and comforts like homemade chicken broth. Chicken broth is the base for some stew and sauce recipes. It is also used to cook rice, pastas and curries and far better than both can and carton ones. So try and make variety of dishes with this nutritious flavorful Homemade Chicken Broth.

Ingredients :-

500 g/ 1.1 lb. Chicken Soup Bones (wash properly)

¼ cup/5 g. Mint Leaves (roughly chopped)

1 cup/ 20 g. Fresh Coriander (roughly chopped)

3-4/50 g. Scallions/Spring Onions (roughly chopped)

2 inch Fresh Ginger Root (roughly chopped)

8-10 Garlic Cloves (roughly chopped)

2 liter./0.5 Gallon Water

2 Bay Leaf

7-8 Black Peppercorns (whole)

Method :-

Roughly chop all the ingredients mentioned above one by one and add to the bowl. Set aside for later use

Add water to a vessel/pot and let it come to a boil. Once it starts boiling add the soup bones and all the chopped vegetables(herbs) to the vessel/pot

Add bay leaf + black peppercorns to the vessel. Mix slowly and let it boil/simmer(uncovered) for next 1 hour on low flame. Stir in regular intervals

Once the water reduces to almost half turn off the flame and let it cool down (covered)

Once cold strain stock through a fine mesh strainer into another large stockpot or heat proof container discarding the solids. Store in a container with a lid in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months. Prior to use, bring to boil for 2 minutes.

Use as a base for soups, sauces, rice, pasta & curries
