Korean Braised Chicken and Potatoes /Dak dori tang recipe is made with chicken pieces, onion, carrot, and potato pieces which are simmered in delicious and slightly spicy broth made with gochujang sauce. Gochujang is a savory, spicy, slightly sweet, fermented Korean condiment made from red chiles, rice, soybeans and salt. Ingredients are simple and process is super easy so it is must try recipe!! The dish is healthy and nutritious since it contains high protein from the chicken and vitamins from the vegetables. Ingredients :-


For Curry Sauce :-

3 tbsp. Gochujang 1 tbsp. Gochutgaru/Red Paprika Powder ¼ cup/60 ml. Soya Sauce ¼ cup/60 ml. Water 8-10 Garlic Cloves (finely chopped)


For Curry :- 1 kg/2.2 lb. Boneless, Skinless Chicken Thighs (cut into large cubes, washed thoroughly & pat dry) 1 large Carrot, cut into 2 inch pieces 2 med size Onions, cut into large chunks 2 large Potatoes, peeled, washed and cut into quarters 1 med size Zucchini, halved & thickly sliced 2 cups/480 ml. Chicken Broth/Stock 4-5 Green Onions/Scallions roughly chopped (reserves 1 tbsp. finely chopped for garnishing) 2 tsp. Toasted White Sesame Seeds

Method :-

In a small bowl add gochujang + gochutgaru + soy sauce + water + chopped garlic. Whisk to combine until homogeneous. Set aside (covered) for later use

In a large stockpot add chicken + onions + potatoes + carrots, zucchini + chicken stock. Mix well. Cover and let it cook for 10-15 minutes on low medium flame. Stir in regular intervals

After 15 mins remove the lid and check if the vegetables turned soft if yes, then add the prepared sauce mixture to the pan and mix well

Cover and cook again for another 15-20 mins on low med flame until the chicken gets soft and tender

After 20 mins remove the lid and check if the chicken has cooked properly or not? If the curry/broth has reduced and the chicken and vegetables are cooked properly then, switch off the gas

Transfer the prepared dish to the serving bowl and garnish with freshly chopped scallions and toasted white sesame seeds.
