Walnut & Basil Pesto Fish

Walnut & Basil Pesto Fish Recipe is simple and easy walnut crusted sea bass with basil walnut pesto. Basa fish fillets cooked in our homemade pesto sauce accompanied with nutty walnut, olive oil & parmesan cheese. Simple ingredients and easy preparation, these shallow fried pesto walnut fish fillets are flavorful and moist. Fish and Pesto is one of the best combinations of the exotic dish list and is a light, easy, and delicious meal. So try out this recipe for your loved ones and impress them with restaurant-quality results!


Ingredients :-


For Walnut & Basil Pesto :-


50 g. Fresh Coriander (washed well)

100 g. Fresh Basil (leaves picked)

12-15 Garlic Cloves (peeled)

½ cup/50 g. Walnut Halves (shelled)

Salt to taste

1.5 tsp. Black Pepper Powder

1 tbsp. Grated Italian Cheese

3 tbsp./45ml. Olive Oil(virgin)


For Marinating :-


1 kg/2.2 lb. Basa Fish Fillets (wash thoroughly and pat dry)

Walnut & basil pesto paste (prep earlier)

2 tsp. Olive Oil


For Shallow frying


2 tbsp./40 ml. Olive/Vegetable Oil

8-10 Cherry Tomatoes (cut into half)



Process :-


For Walnut & Basil Pesto :-


Add all the ingredients mentioned under the walnut & basil pesto list to the grinder jar one by one. Close the lid of the jar tightly and grind to a smooth paste. Set aside for later use


For Marinating :-


Take fish fillet in a tray or big plate and add the pesto paste to the tray/plate. With the help of a brush/hands gently apply the pesto paste on all the fillets and coat the fish fillets evenly, drizzle 2 tsp of olive oil over the marinated fish. Cover it and set aside to marinate for 1 hr.


For Frying :-


Heat the veg oil in a non-stick pan on a low-medium flame. Once hot, slide the marinated fish pieces slowly to the pan and shallow fry in batches for 3-4 mins on low-medium flame.

With the help of a brush apply the oil from the pan on the upper side of the fish. After 3-4 mins, flipover to cook the other side for another 3-4 mins. Again drizzle oil from the pan over the cooked side of fish and cook till the outer layer of fish turns to light golden brown in colour


Once done lower down the flame, dish out the fried fish gently and set aside


Similarly, fry all the remaining fish fillets and set aside covered


To the remaining oil add cherry tomatoes and sauté for 1-2 minutes on low medium flame

and switch off the gas. Dish out the cooked tomatoes on the serving plate along with the cooked fish, mashed potatoes, fresh tangerine pieces and serve hot
